Ever wonder where life will take you?I have been very fortunate in my consulting and project management career. Aside from my constant joy in seeing new places and meeting new people I can trace back my muti-faceted career to my early days in the Royal Navy. I spent almost ten years in the Navy and during that time the four key themes that would frame my subsequent career were put in place.
An ongoing interest in technology - electronics, telecommunications, cryptography, nuclear, and managing technology projects, e.g. ships equipment refits, developing a SQL.
A passion for consulting for change - at the tender age of 22 I had a small fleet of four frigates on which to trial advanced management techniques from the USA as part of the Polaris program; at the time Britain's largest project ever.
A belief that the transfer of knowledge is a noble undertaking - My passion to educate, mentor and train others and to constantly strive for improved ways of doing so started at Leadership School in the Navy where I qualifed as a lecturer and spent a period in the Navy's advanced Programmed Learning Unit.
Espirit de corps - My belief in the 'power of the team' to achieve what as individuals we cannot and in so doing, to share a common greater cause and deep loyalty to each other. This viewpoint was inculcated in us during our long training and became as natural as breathing when working tgether as a team 300 feet below the ocean or ashore in some exotic location.
